HerDe Camille’s paintings are created using a unique layering process of iridescent and opalescent acrylics beneath richly textured oil paints. "What inspires me most about the ocean is the way light lives on its surface. No matter how deep or unknowable the water is below, light finds a way to rest there—glimmering, refracting, alive.

That image stays with me when I create.

\As a human, I carry many layers, some heavy, some unresolved. Therefore as an artist, I add layer after layer of paint to attempt to recreate that magical glimmer.

The ocean reminds me that it is this depth helps to magnify the brightness. The illuminated surface isn’t denial of what's below—it symbolizes resilience to rise to the surface.

It is proof that rough waters can still catch the light.

Watching the water glow fills me with optimism.

It tells me that I don't need to have all the answers to be fulfilled. Like the ocean, I can hold complexity and still reflect hope.

I can let light guide the surface, trusting that the more light I focus on the more miracles I can attract.
